sig prep question with ileostomy

for a sig procedure why would i need to stop eating and do an enema prep when i have an ileostomy? a moderator on another site told someone that is in error and you only need to do clear liquids 24 hours prior to sig. what is accurate and why would any prep and or diet be needed when nothings connected to the remaining rectal tissue that remains prior to j-pouch creation?
