Hello, just asking people with similar back ground issues. I had UC for 23 years before the J pouch. Uic in Chicago great team of Doc’s but they had on so much medication it seems like it is really catching up with me at 53 years old.
I am having Basil cell skin cancers , squamous cell cancers and nothing but issues with my eyes. Eye issues, high pressure , retina detachment. Eustachian tube dysfunction issues as with my ear as well. Doc’s today are blaming medication on my isssues. I have no one to else ask, everyone around me appears to be in terrible shape but does not get the issues I get. It is becoming very frustrating. I am really curious. If drugs like prednisone, remicade, asacol , olsalazine, purinethol, Purinethol was replaced by humira for you younger folks. Has any of these drugs have a negative effect on you as you got older. Please let me know. I am constantly running to Docs for this crap now and can get a break.

I’m so sorry to hear you’re going this. Having complications with the J-pouch is bad enough. The medication side effects are crazy nowadays. What you describe sounds like side effects from biologics. I’ve been doing this JPouch thing for 42yrs now and only within the last 10yrs have I struggled with inflammation and now that I’m older (60) it’s really hard. I tried biologics which made me deathly sick.
yes Biologics and steroids work, is it worth the side effects? That’s how I look at it.
Maybe you should go for a second opinion.

thank u for the response up to This point my j pouch is not bad. It is the medication for UC is where my issues are coming in to play
