when I had my scope 3 weeks ago, I saw the report and the photo and it said the suture line was ulcerated, and from the photo it was all white. When I asked Shen about it, he stated that this was indeed "normal".. anyone else??

Are you talking about the suture line where jpouch is stiched upon itself and not your hand seen anastomosis? If so, mine is ulcerated also and Dr. Remzi said it looked burnt out and was not happy with the way it looked.

not the handsewn anastomosis... why would shen say its normal if Remzi is concerned about it? Remzi was my surgeon, should I make him aware of this just in case he is not? isn't Shen the top jpouch guru?? confused now.. I don't want to start doubting Shen and bothering Remzi with this if its nothing to be concerned about..
I'm not sure. Shen was not there at my exam. I think I would trust him. Maybe it's common to see ulcers on the suture line. I have many other issues with my pouch and that could be why Remzi felt mine should come out or a re do. If you are feeling good that is what most matters as my prior surgeon would say He often saw inflammation in pouches and patients felt fine. Confusing I know. Good luck.
besides the very mild prolapse I have at the bottom of my pouch, I was told its well constructed and looks good. I of course was worried about it so frantically emailed Shen and Remzi and I was told by both of them its nothing to be concerned about and go live my life. Shen said treat it as a hemorrhoid, and do not strain. The report shows the ulceration and also states ulcers at suture line. I never asked due to the prolapse thing I was more concerned about. But yesterday was looking at the report so I emailed Shen asking about that and he said ulceration at the suture line is "normal". He never recommended any meds or anything so I guess I will take his word on this. this pouch was totally redone by Remzi in October and reconnected in March this year. I just had so many issues with first one that anything that's not perfect I begin to freak out.
I give you credit. I have so many issues with mine now. I'm afraid to do the redo for the same reasons you are mentioning. Did they ever question crohns before redo?
I questioned it several times before my first pouch in 2008 and prior to this one being redone. My sister has Crohns. Remzi and Shen have said numerous times they have never suspected Crohns in my case.
