For those of you dealing with a persistent stricture (anastamosis site) and have the joy of self dilating, I'm looking for a little guidance. I've had multiple dilations under anesthesia but need to be a little more proactive. Just going to go the finger/glove route for now as per my gi. How far up do I actually insert???
It depends on how far in the stricture is. Can you get to the closure with your finger or is it past that point? Your doc should be able to tell you. If not, you will know when you hit a brick wall and/ or it hurts like a $%#$%^. Hello, stricture.
If you can't reach it, you would likely need to buy a dilator.
