Hi everyone! I've had my J-Pouch since 2000. I have been dealing with Pouchitis on and off. When I got off Dairy & Gluten that minimized it. BUT I still go frequently. For some reason I haven't really explored my gut health until now. I just started VSL#3DS and feel better. I am interested to read more about gut health and what more I can do. I actually had told my GI about VSL33 about 5 years ago (thanks to this discussion forum) and now he is actively prescribing it. But I have not made much advances on my own. I'm "ready". So if you have a book or a few suggestions please  let me know what it is and how it helped you! I know enough now that I'm not going to the docs for this. The experts are not near me. I live in Maine. I feel like you all have tried so much and , to me, you are the experts and the patients!

**Also I have had to partial blockages this year and eating a lot of raw veggies isn't going to work for me.

Thank you!

Karen

Most of what is written about “gut health” is about colonic function, and has essentially nothing to do with folks who have J-pouches. If you’d like to reduce your frequency you ought to start by thinking through the physical cause. There’s a big difference between low pouch capacity vs. high output, for example. There’s a difference between managing liquid stool vs. soft solid vs. formed. There’s a difference between true urgency (I.e. delay will cause an accident) vs. a pressure sensation/discomfort that could be safely ignored. If you can describe your frequency issue more completely you’ll get more useful suggestions.
