I'll be celebrating 10 years with my J-pouch next Christmas, and my scar tissue has always bothered me. I don't mind having a scar; I'm quite proud of it and it tells part of the story of who I am, but in recovery it stretched quite a lot and so in places the scar tissue is over 1 centimetre across. The scar itself is 15cm long, and there's also a round scar from where I had a temporary stoma. I'd prefer it if it was a bit neater.
Does anyone have any experience of having further surgery to improve the appearance of their scar? I suspect it's not something I could get done on the NHS unless it affected my job, or was affecting my psychologically, which it isn't.
Any advice would be very gratefully received!
