Rv fistula

I constantly have discharge and all the other things that come along with most likely stool being in my vaginal area. I can get no relief I am miserable! I have like 8-10 Bowel movements a day liquid and if I hold it too long I feel this sudden gush coming from the front and my pad will be completely full 😞I am scheduled for a pouchoscopy in a few weeks but I have been living with this for about 4 years now and feeling really discouraged bc I feel everyone I mention it to tells me they doubt it and just dismiss it. My surgeon retired and so I have no way of contacting him now so I’m just visiting diff gyn and rectal surgeons hoping they find something. Any advice would be great! Thanks

Have you done the poppy seed test to prove that there really is such a fistula? Then at least you could be sure about it.

It looks like the poppy seed test will work well on a recto-vesical fistula, but I think it will work less well (if at all) for a recto-vaginal fistula. They both have the same abbreviation, unfortunately.

@Millertime I had some leakage recently and figured its a RV Fistula, then saw pus coming out so my surgeon prescribed Augmentin and it got much better. I am scheduled for a pouchoscopy this week, he said if he feels that it needs to be repaired he will do the flap procedure to close it off.

I did some research and spoke to other j pouchers who told me to try to wait as once you do 1 repair, the second one is more complicated.

I will have a conversation with my GI tomorrow and surgeon before the procedure.
