I came across a couple of recently published review articles on pouchitis in the medical literature that I thought others would be interested in reading. They are:
"Acute and chronic pouchitis—pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment" by Bo Shen (Shen, B. Nat. Rev. Gastroenterol. Hepatol. 9, 323–333 (2012); published online 17 April 2012) abstract and,
"Etiology of Pouchitis" by Landy et al. (Inflamm Bowel Dis 2012; 18:1146-1155). abstract.
I think these represent the current state of knowledge relative to pouchitis. If you don't mind wading through some technical jargon, I think you will find them very interesting and quite informative. I now have a much better grasp of what is going on and why it can be such a beguiling problem.
Unless you have access to medical publications such as via a university library, they may be hard to come by. I obtained my copies from my rheumatologist (I acquired arthritis via pouchitis - lucky me). I'm sure your doctor can get these for you if you cannot acquire them electronically yourself.
Cheers!
