Hello again,

I had a follow up appointment with my GI. We’re working through some stubborn cuffitis. I had my take down in June of 2017. Not even a full year with the pouch. It’s functioning very well at 4-6 times a day. I’m no longer getting cramps or urgency after being on antibiotics for pouchitis. The only symptom I’m really getting right now is constant bleeding from the cuffitis.

My GI doesn’t seem to be too concerned with the bleeding. My hemoglobin and iron levels are normal.

I was prescribed a compound of I believe a steroid and mesalimine to be administered once at night via a rectal rocket suppository... I’ve never heard of this method of treatment for cuffitis. The rectal rocket also appears to have a crack built into the side of it for the passage of air... which seems concerning for someone with a j pouch. Will stool/acid/gas just run through the suppository...

Any input is appreciated!

thanks!

It looks like an ingenious design, and if it works for you (i.e. doesn’t cause leakage) then it might do a better job on cuffitis than the conventional approaches. Why not give it a try?

It looks so intimidating. The name doesn’t really make it seem any less intimidating. I’ll put an update on this when I know if it works.

thanks.
