My gastro says that I should start taking fiber because my labs show that I am borderline for developing symptoms.  I have never had soft formed stools as my surgeon said I would when I had the surgery five years.  I tried fiber once, but it caused me cramping when I tried to pass it.  Can anyone give me suggestions for what worked that did not cause cramping so hopefully I won't have to try more than one?  Thanks for all your help.

There are a few options for fiber. I take psyllium powder twice daily - the capsules don’t mix properly for me. You can adjust the dose to whatever serves you best. Other choices include Benefiber and Citrucel. I suggest you do the experiments fearlessly - if a choice doesn’t serve you well you could have some very temporary discomfort. If you find something that works it can help you for many years.
