for the past few years my scopes have always been the first appt in the hospital which is normally around 6am. since my surgeon/gi doc has moved away im seeing a new doc who has scheduled me for a scope this friday, its at 1:15pm, i know you dont eat or drink anything the day of, is it wise to go from waking up all the way to 1:15 in the afternoon without anything to drink or eat?

I'm assuming this new doctor knows about j pouch life and dehydration and such, his bio online says hes done the most ileo-anal surgeries in the country.

I have had scopes at all times of day including early evening and never had a problem.

They require an empty pouch but that does not mean that you can't have some sips of water at 6 am...I have even had major pouch surgery at 3 pm and they allowed me water until 9am.

They respect a 6 hour window for fluids.
