My surgeon told me to come to him for my annual scopes or any other issue I may have. I know I can go to my GI since she has j pouch experience but I figured its my surgeons handy work I may as well have him be the one poking around in there! I have been fortunate not to have experienced pouchitis so I've only gone back for my check ups.

Due to the fact that everything happened so quickly, I never was reffered a GI at all. It was the colon-rectal surgeon who followed me at the previous hospital.

Now that I switched I have a surgeon and GI, the sad thing is that it is very hard to get through to seeing either.

Though I feel that surgeons are not always aware of the latest medication available. I think all depending on the case, they should both be there to answer to our concerns, and then decide who is better at dealing with the situation

I didn't see ANYone but a PCP for nearly 20 years! I was doing that well.

Fistula necessitated a return to a colorectal surgeon, and I went back to my original one. Had only seen him once in 2002, for a letter to tell my OB Gyn to give me a C section.

I got a referral to a GI guy he works with, and saw him Monday. He was great, they both were, and they came in and saw me together. I'm pretty sure I'll be moving on to most care with this GI guy, and only seeing the surgeon if I have seton drain issues or other fistula problems.
