Hello everyone! I go for a consult at Cleveland Clinic on April 10th. I just had some questions for people who may have gone through this already, or anyone who has information about the process. My main question is what happens during your consult? Would it be like my consult I had for my J-Pouch surgery in the beginning? Also, what solutions are offered? Will it be a simple one procedure surgery? Will it be in stages like getting my J-pouch? I’ve just never gone through this before and I just want to know what to expect. I’m just so ready to get my prolapsed fix and get my life going again, putting everything on hold while dealing with this issue has been so hard. Thanks for any help!

Are you scheduled to see a colo-rectal surgeon or a gastroenterologist? Those would likely be very different appointments.
I’m going to be meeting a colo-rectal surgeon.

I haven't heard about a prolapsed J Pouch. Could someone tell me about this please. Much appreciated
A prolapsed J-pouch is when your pouch becomes detached from inside and comes out of your anus. It’s like a colon or rectal prolapse except it’s your pouch.
Not good
Repair can be anything from a simple "tacking” of the pouch to the posterior wall to complete pouch reconstruction. It all depends on the degree and type of prolapse. They may want a full battery of tests unless you have already had them and the surgeon is satisfied with them.

I’ve had a scope and I’ve had a defecating proctogram that diagnosed and shown the prolapse, so this appointment is my consult on how to fix it. I just can find much on options and I just want to know what I need to look forward too.

I know this is an old thread but just wondering how your appt went ( I know king time ago) and if you had surgery to repair prolapse. You may no longer be visiting this website but personals someone else had experienced a prolapsed pouch. Interested in surgical or non surgical options and where people are finding best, trusted care. I have had some tests done but have couple differing opinions from surgeons, at 2 different teaching hospitals, whether pouch or mucousal lining is prolapsing. Thank you! LJZ
