Just was told I have severely active proctitis in my rectal cuff. Just had my takedown surgery about 2.5 months ago. Anyone experience this so soon after take down surgery?

im sorry you’re experiencing that. It can be pretty irritating and uncomfortable. What did the doc prescribe or give you- hydrocortisone or suppositories? Prob not the sups since you’re still so recently out of surgery I’d imagine. And you prob still have butt burn and are going a lot I bet. Also how was it diagnosed? Did they do a pouchoscopy or was the doc just assuming that’s what it is?
I guess in theory it can happen whenever, even right after surgery, since the rectal cuff is still the large intestine. I had it two years out and it was super itchy, irritated and painful to go. But it cleared up rather quickly.
@Bubba1028 hi! I haven’t been prescribed anything yet, unfortunately. I have to do a video chat with my dr and see what he says next week. I luckily don’t experience too much butt burn because I have a bidet, but I do go to the bathroom more than I would like to, for sure. But I would say the bathroom visits are getting better with time. He found this out by doing a pouchoscopy. That’s hopefully yours didn’t last that long, I hope mine doesn’t last too long either.
Hopefully they give you something to clear it up soon. Luckily they can give u a few things. The hydro really helped me in a matter of days. I hear a few people said the enemas helped the most and a lot quicker.
@Bubba1028 thank you so much for the info!
