Does anyone take a daily Probiotic? Not VSL just a regular probiotic. If so, what benefits does it provide you, does it help with frequency and what brand/strength do you take?
Thank you for your help!

My gastro recommended Pouchers to take ALign. I have never taken it before but I just thought I would share since my gastro told me to take Align as a probiotic prevention for pouchitis. I never taken it because I never had pouchitis but a lot of people have taken it on here and I have heard nothing but good results. I think you should give ALign a try and see what happens.
Good luck with it, I hope it helps
I tried Align for about 6 months, but did not see any benefit in my case, so I stopped it. My husband who also has UC, but still has his colon, says he noticed a significant improvement in his function, with fewer flares, and less troublesome flares when they did occur. He has been taking Align for several years now.

Hi Jan,
Thanks for replying. I did some research and come to find out that most probiotics have dairy in them. I know a number of pouchers can’t tolerate dairy. I found a vegan brand, and started with the children’s strength and it’s working excellent. A little more formed stool, and less frequency. I pray it continues.
Have a great day!

My surgeon recommended Align after my surgery. I only took for a month. I haven't had any issues with pouchitis.
Anecdotally, my husband was having problems with constipation (totally opposite my problem!), and I got him to take Align. He thinks it helped him after about two weeks.
Align has milk and pretty strong. Seems like pouchers start on Align and end up stopping.
I’ve been taking Garden of life organic kids chewable. 5 billion, 14 probiotic strains. No allergens. Started out low and will increase if needed.
just hope it continues to work
Experience is the best teacher in this case. Since we are all so different, the specific strain actually matters. Good luck, and I hope your results last!

I use digestive advantage once a day (the one without the added fiber) with good results, if I start to get pouchitis symptoms I take it twice a day.
When I saw Dr Shen, I was told probiotics are not suggested for the pouch as they are intended to work in the large intestines. I was told they can increase risk of getting SIBO as well.

I love that you posted this. I wonder why it works for some people for their J-pouch like Visibiome for instance.
