I had my colon removed in 2007.

My doctor prescribed VSL #3-double strength because then I could get my  insurance to cover a portion of it.  They would not cover regular strength.  I have been taking that for 8 to 10 years.  I had trouble getting VSL #3 (the company has legal problem and supply issues. Now most pharmacies won't carry it )and then changed to Visbiome (900 billion cells) the last couple months.  I just found out that what I bought for  $346 is now going to cost me between $850 and $900.  I am to take 2 a day and that would cost me around $300 a month.  I can't afford that!

Does anyone take probiotics?  What do you take?  Have you found a way to get Visbiome for cheaper?

Any advise would help.

Have you checked visbiomes website? I order directly from them, I am in Canada and I don't have a script for the double strength so I can't compare the price. I have found ordering directly from them to be a good experience so far, never a delay, two days after I order it's here. I also have not been able to get a probiotic covered, I can't even get visbiome or vsl3 without ordering online.

Good luck, I take one packet once a day and I am usually ok, some days I take two. You may also be able to get away with less if you have to, although that is up to you. I would say I'd rather spend some money on probiotics then be on antibiotics all the time.
