I'm now only 16 days post-takedown and have been having issues with frequent visits to the bathroom (created a thread re: loperamide which has helped - thank you).

I now have yet another problem which is concerning me greatly. I've noticed that when I try to urinate I feel pressure towards the front and a heaviness. It does partially stop me from going but I do manage in the end. I've also noticed I have developed haemorrhoids

Is this normal or should I give my GP a call?

Sorry for the questions; just feel lost.

Never be sorry for asking questions...that is what we are here for.

I have a k pouch...it sits low down and when full puts pressure on my bladder...which causes a chicken/egg situation with me.

I need to empty my pouch before I can urinate, I need to urinate before I can empty my pouch.

My best solution is to never let myself get overfull so that I do allow the problem to start.

That said, it may have nothing to do with your situation...you may be pushing and straining (number one cause of hemorrhoids).

Your pouch is a newbie, needs to find its space and borders when full, stretching out and leaning on things...or you could be just suffering from post op swelling.

Is there any burning? Urgency? Irritation of just pressure?

Could be a urinary tract infection or a dozen other things...if it is causing a problems call your doctor but in the meantime, drink lots of fluids to avoid dehydration.

Thank you so much for your quick responses and reassurance. There is now a bit of pain when I go, therefore to err on the side of caution I will call my GP tomorrow. I forget that swelling goes on inside too; so much is happening right now that it's easy to forget.

I know it's early days and not an easy walk in the park but I just hope things improve soon. Fingers crossed
