I am 2.5 months out from my reversal surgery and am doing pretty good overall. My 2 issues are lack of sleep and pressure in my rectum. The pressure comes when ( I think) stool is being pushed through my intestine. It lasts about 5 seconds and then Stops. It will do this every 10 - 15 minutes until I go to the bathroom. Does this pain get better or lessen over time? Thanks for any comments.

Thanks, I am optimistic that it will get better.
I remember this happening to me also in the beginning. I started eating every few hours and eating soft food nothing gassy and no sugar and drinking a lot of water. I try not to eat anything after 7 at night which I still do. good luck
When I get that pressure and pain, is how I know I have pouchitis. Once I get on my antibiotics it goes away.
i too have the pressure/pain although it can last for hours and not always relieved with evacuation. alas, i'm having the j pouch removed, although it is more because of the pouchitis and other nasty anal pain issues, which i will spare you.
point of writing is pain control. i take lyrica, 150 mg 2X daily to help with anal as well as lumbar pain. i think it helps. haven't gone off it for the official test. also take 2 mg of tizanadine, which is a muscle relaxant. that somewhat helps. if you are not adverse to more meds you might try them. also, i meditate, which aside for the spiritual component i think helps control pain. so there's my 2 cents.... be well, jlh
I'm 3.5 months out and I get that occasionally but I find that it's just gas most of the time and I haven't had any problems with holding anything in except at night maybe a handful of times.. But even then it wasn't a full disaster.
I did have that for a while, maybe 7 months. I think I had a fissure also. After 7 months there was a gradual improvement and the last 3 months have been great. I am 14 months out. I just created a nice word problem. Hang in there - I was really doubtful for a while and missed the bag.....but not anymore!
Once again relief is a codiene pill away. if it makes you sleepy take only at night and least a good night sleep makes the rest easyer but I find a can take about 3 over the course of a day without side effects
@JKC hey did your concerns ever subside? I've had a j pouch since 2008 and a few weeks ago I started to experience what you described...
