The last two months I've felt a bead-like nodule directly above my anus. It was tender to the touch at times but would wax and wane. I went to my surgeon last Friday and of course, it was in one of the waning episodes, so no diagnosis. Fast forward a little less than one week and the area is tender again and raised. It hurts more when I lay down or sit than when I'm walking but it's not upwards towards my tailbone like some of the posts I've read on here. It feels like an abscess but the previous fistulas I've had were both on the sides of the anus, not directly above it.
Last night I woke up in major pain and had trouble going back to sleep. I felt exhausted and was clammy but no full blown fever. Today, it felt better until this evening. The area is still raised and still has that bead like feel to it under the skin, though the size now is more like that of a small marble. I was hoping it would surface and rupture but nothing yet.
Any suggestions? Head back to the surgeon? Wait it out and take sitz bathes? Any info on what it is? Any help would be appreciated.
