As I write this I'm sitting in my hospital bed at Mt Sinai Toronto currently awake due to an accident I just had.
I woke up with a lot of leakage most of which was blood. It appeared dark in colour so I'm hoping it's not fresh, just excess from the surgery which was this past Friday.
Is it normal to experience the need to empty and find blood? Will this last a while?
I was told to practice my keagles but would prefer to at home. I'm one known for assuming the worst and overthinking things. If someone could respond to this that's had some experience it would be greatly appreciated!

this is normal. you can leak blood, mucous and old stool.

i had a bit of leakage of blood for a few days after surgery. then it calmed down. then suddenly one evening about a week later i woke up and i had leaked blood all over my pants and bedsheets. i think this was the pouch 'waking up'

anyway over time it stops. i now just have controlled discharge of mucous every day...
It's normal. My surgeon chose to keep a tube in my pouch (up my butt) for five days after surgery so I wouldn't have accidents or have to empty into the toilet, and a TON of blood and nastiness came out of it. It had slowed down a lot by the time I had the tube removed and left the hospital, but I passed a little mucus, sometimes with a little blood, at least once a day until takedown.
Thank you for your feedback Pluot. It's appreciated.

Every so often I can feel movement in my pouch (wondering if it's common to have this amount of movement ), or what I'm assuming is my pouch as if I need to empty, I was told to hold it for a little bit in attempts to stretch the pouch.

But anyways, I'm home now, glad as ever but a little uneasy to sleep & wake up to another mess lol I stopped at the medical supply store and grabbed a bed liner and some underwear. We shall see how it goes I guess.
