Hello, Enterin. When I have urgency or frequency, it is usually because of something I ate that had too much fiber, such as Brussels sprouts, raw salad, whole wheat bread, or if I ate too much at a family party.  When this happens, I eat light meals for two or three days so my pouch system can rest. No fiber, no spices, no acidic food, no raw food. Eat fruit, but no fruit skins. Eat vegetables that are very well cooked and soft, but don't eat the skin. Skins and peels can cause more loose frequency when there is pouchitis.

Try to eat soft, protein foods while your pouch tries to heal and return to normal, possibly with your doctor's medication. Let your pouch empty whatever is irritating it. I avoid heavy meat dishes and stick with chicken, fish, pasta in small portions. Try to avoid soda or carbonated drinks (causes bloating and gas) and have lots of plain fluids, water, plain ginger tea, plain green tea to help clean the digestive system. No white sugar or diary in the tea or coffee for now. Make a pot of plain tea with lemon slices and cool in the refrigerator to drink in hot weather. For me, it takes one or two days to return to normal pouch function by eating plain foods. I have not needed pouch medication or Metamucil or psyllium since my reversal 3 years ago. Good luck.
