Hello friends, im going for a pouchoscopy on monday and its my first time. Can someone tell me if it hurts. Should i ask for anistesia. Im just nervous going back to the hospital.
I had my first scope of the pouch back in July and it didn't hurt at all. I had no sedation and I prefer it that way. Yes, it's a bit uncomfortable but really no big deal at all. It's actually really cool to see everything on the screen. You'll be fine.
I am having my first one done on Tuesday and because I am not having any issues right now (tapering off cipro) and my rear end is not in distress I did opt to have it without sedation. My doc's office said no prep, but I still intend to eat light the day before and the morning of. Good luck on your scope on Monday.
A pouchoscopy is a pretty minor procedure. Remember that the pouch just isn't very big. I had no sedation and experienced no discomfort. It could be argued that sedation is inappropriate for pouchoscopy.
