Hope everyone is doing well. I was wondering what pouchitis symptoms are like. Isn't it like a flare up with upset stomach and diarrhea? I typed in pouchitis symptoms on you tube and nothing really came up. When I went to my surgeon a few weeks back I asked if I had it or a flare up because I had diarrhea pretty bad because I had to take a steroid for my eye believe it or not and it wrecked me pretty good as I don't tolerate that or meds in general well. He said no. But I'm still not clear on symptoms as far as the pouchitis. Been averaging 6 times a day going to the bathroom, but past few days it went up to 8-9 times but is clearing up like it does pretty quickly and I get back down to 6 times a day. Been under quite a bit of stress last two weeks. Thanks

Increased frequency, increased urgency, nighttime spotting and incontinence, incomplete evacuation, cramping. Those would be the main ones.
Thanks CtBarrister. You and a few other people in this group have been such a big help with info and it's greatly appreciated. Not to get off topic, but what is 1st Stricture that you have listed on your profile regarding the UC and pouch and all that?

This is discussed in more detail in this thread:
My pouchitis symptoms are exactly what CT lists. People report other symptoms, too, so it’s sometimes a tricky diagnosis. I’d avoid using the simple term “flare-up,” because it means so many different things to different people, and can keep us from getting a proper diagnosis. You can only have a flare-up of an underlying condition (e.g. UC, pouchitis, cuffitis, etc.). Many of us got used to the term as a way to describe the waxing and waning symptoms of IBD, but under those circumstances it meant a flare-up *of UC* (for example). Without a colon you can’t have a simple flare-up of UC. Heck, while I’m at it, “diarrhea” is a confusing term for us, too, since our stools are *supposed* to be a bit loose. My purpose isn’t to police anyone’s language for its own sake, but to help us communicate in a way that enables understanding.
You are right on all that and I appreciate the info.
