Hi all,

i havnt posted for a while because I attempted to get back to work but havnt really been able to because of health so I'm back! I had my takedown on 22nd October (so about 7 months ago) and things are not good.

i go to the loo about 12 times I'd say in 24 hours (night times are worse) but I did have a small persuade where I wasn't waking in the night to use the loo and I would go about 8 times in 24 hours that was good!

at the moment I've git urgency and burning, the burning wakes me at night and I have to rush to the loo not so much to empty but more so to wash my back passage because it feels like it's on fire (sorry for the detail) and when I sk go to the loo I feel like I'm really full but only a tiny bit comes out and I have to push that out, and I don't feel empty at all, Infact it feels like something is almost stuck in the rectum?! What is that about?

ivr had bleeding since takedown-I have cuffitis not to bad but it's there, and was told at last scope months back that there didn't seem to be any pouchitis, I have a few very painful fissures, do the bleeding could be from that or the cuffitis and I'm hoping nothing more sinister which hasn't been diagnosed yet! I'm currently using mesalasine suppositories, it's been about 2 weeks now, and have been on Cipro for 2 days for possible pouchitis.

So ive got-

bleeding

uregncy

dont feel empty after using the loo and need to go straight back

crazy burning-that wakes me in the night

fissures

going to the loo a lot-more than usual

can anyone tell me what could be going on? And if it is pouchitis how long before the Cipro kicks in? Any help would be so so appreciated

thanks all

sally

If you have bad fissures they can cause spasms in your sphincters enough to cause obstruction. If it goes on long enough the fecal stasis can lead to pouchitis. Sort of a chain reaction. One thing leads to another. When you are not emptying well, that can increase your frequency because you are always full.

Thanks Jan, it's so painful when I go to the loo and it stings like crazy and burns, I cry everytime, even when I'm not going to the loo I have the burning feeling, I feel so lousy I don't know what to do-I'm on mesalasine suppositories for confirmed  cuffitis, antibiotics for suspected pouchitis and a cream for the fissures, my iron level is now so low I need an infusion, I had a fall some time back to and broke my shoulder, hip, femur and knees and that's now giving me so much pain, possible sciatica, I've got avascular necrosis of the hip so I'm waiting on hip replacements in the very near future, my whole body just aches and I feel so low now, I'm getting to sleep at night and when I have to go to the loo I don't feel empty, I have to strain so much that I turn red, it hurts to go , it burns, bleeds and just drains me, just don't know what do

Do you have lidocaine gel for the fissures? It is a topical anesthetic. You can even try hemorrhoid cream to numb the fissures, but the lidocaine is better. Prescription only though. Sitz baths are good too. Sounds gross, but even using a warm sitz bath to empty your pouch can be useful. A bidet attachment for your toilet would be money well spent.
