Hello:

I had a scope of my pouch yesterday because I have been having a lot of very watery diarrhea and a number of other problems (including that we think I may have a fistula after very traumatic hysterectomy in October, not that we expected to find anything on that with scope). Anyway, the pouch looked good except for one small ulcer. He also went into part of my small intestine to take biopsies. My GI has said for the first time he was getting concerned about Crohn's (my brother has Crohn's and there was some discussion before my colectomy about that). Anyway, the scope was done quickly and I was under anesthesia. But since the scope yesterday I have had extreme discomfort and soreness in my entire abdomen, though not in my pouch. There is a lot of pain especially near the site of my incisional hernia repair (ostomy site).

I have had more than a couple pouch scopes since my original colectomy in 2011, because of some unusual problems between colectomy and takedown, but I don't remember ever having this much pain afterward. Anyone have any insight why my entire abdomen would hurt at this point? And it's not gas from the air introduced during test. There was some gas but I was able to move that along. I had the test yesterday around noon and it's now Saturday morning.

Thanks,
Laurie

I just recently had a scope with biopsies and I had severe cramping in my abdomen the entire day after and then some bleeding a day or two after that. I would call your doctor also, but I am not certain this is entirely unusual after a scope with biopsies. I have had many scopes with biopsies over the last two years, however my last one I had the most pain with.
