I am scheduled for a pouch revision in October with Dr Remzi and was told he will try to repair the sinus and the leak first, but if he cant he will create a new pouch. His nurse said both would be considered a "revision". I would think a repair would be a smaller surgery than to totally remove old pouch and create a new one?? But was told the recovery time is same either way? 5-7 days in hospital and 6-8 weeks of recovery.
also, if just a repair, will my ileostomy be redone? Obviously if its a brand new pouch it will be a new ileostomy. I like my stoma, i have never had issues with it.
