I had my pouch made 7 years ago and about 10 months ago a recto-vaginal fistula showed up and the surgeons took forever to even find the dang thing. Anyways they are telling me I need my pouch advanced ( Brought lower..as they left about an inch of rectal tissue from 1st surgery). Has anyone had this done and what was your hospital stay/healing time frame?

I'm going though mine right now. I came in on a wed, (my rectal cuff keeps getting so inflamed I stop going or rather can't go.) It's Monday, I just had my nG tube taken out, and my catheter. They want me to start a minimal clear diet today and if I tolerate it well then tomorrow I move to more solidish food. They removed 1cm from the 3cm of rectum I had and they did a musectomy. I'm on here now trying to find out what exactly this all means
I had a pouch advancement on May 19th due to a pouch-vaginal fistula. I had a temp ileo created 3 months before the surgery - I haven't had the reversal done yet. I spend four days in hospital.

Now I'm feeling great and almost ready to go to work again. I don't have a full-time job and I'm not sure I would be able to work full-time yet if I had.
Yeah, It looks like I'm getting a temp iliostomy for a few weeks as they advance my pouch. My "rectal stump" is all inflamed and sad, so my doc thinks it's best to just get rid of as much of my rectal tissue as possible. I'm a tad scared because the first time around, I had a leak at my connection site that resulted in Peritonitis. That infection nearly killed me. So i'm hoping this surgery goes a little better.

Do you guys have okay continence with the pouch advancement? i'm worried that i'm not going to be continent like i am now.. but then again, anything is better than having fecal matter come out of my lady parts (am i right?!).
