Hi All,

I've finally had takedown surgery after a nightmare year of complications from my first surgery. Takedown was on the 13th of Nov. Anyways, I just have a couple of queries for those of you you that've gone through all this...

1) My bowels woke up the day after my Takedown surgery (much better than my other surgeries) and all motions have been quite liquid. I just noticed on my last visit to the bathroom quite a bit of bloody water (pale but definitely some blood). This has me kind of freaked. Has anyone else had this post op? What did it turn out to be?

2) I'm looking to get a bidet. The Coway ones seem to be the ones I can get here in NZ. Has anyone used the BA-07? Seems to have all the useful functions but doesn't have the "air+water stream" that is on some of the others. How important is this?

Thanks for any help,
Phil
Hi Phil,

I had the same thing (very pale pink blood trace) and asked my surgeon. He explained that often the section from the loop ileo to the anus can get inflammed when it is not in use, and this is the likely culprit. This was about 2 weeks before I was due for takedown so to be certain he knocked me out and did a scope. Report came back that the J Pouch was "healthy and supple" but above was slightly inflammed, exactly as he predicted.

However there could be many causes so ask your surgeon, he knows you best and can recommend the best advice. I just wanted to share my story as I know how scary it is when you see that! But it can turn out just fine so don't panic. Speak to your surgeon. I have a new saying I try to live by these days... Its not worth worrying about until its time to worry! So I dont let myself get carried away and let my brain think of all the possible reasons (negative ones) until i know thats the case. Get it checked out, but don't worry about it.

Good Luck!
