I had a colostomy for almost a year and grew relatively comfortable with it (ate most of what I wanted, went to gym, gained weight). When I went in to surgery for my ileostomy, I consented to the j-pouch, but my doctor decided I had enough healthy colon above my rectum that I didn't need it. I had my ileostomy takedown a week ago, but the incontinence and butt burn are killing me! I tried to participate in thanksgiving with a small plate of diet-modified food, but I found myself on the toilet all day (before and after that meal). I'm constantly soiling myself and am only finding relief when I'm asleep. I realize my situation is unique since I don't have a j-pouch and I'm recently out of surgery, but any suggestions would be super appreciated (especially re: butt burn; it has made it difficult to sit and walk!). Hoping to regain some normalcy!
