post op ileus after cesarean - passing gas and stool bit still vomiting

Hi all. I just had a cesarean on the 2nd and it is now the 9th. I had developed a post op ileus probably from the opiods after surgery on day 3. Distended belly, pain, nausea, vomiting, no bowl sounds. drugs were ceased along with food. I was switched to nil by mouth and put on a drip. Since then i can now pass watery stool and gas no problem. They removed drip and put me on clear fluids. I cannot keep down any of these fluids. I am not puking bile or fecal matter. That is going thru my bottom. I am only puking what i drink and it is accompanied by acid reflux feeling. I am afraid i will be dehydrated since I'm puking all my liquids up or scared something else is wrong.
Any advice or help is appreciated. Sitting in hospital worried.

Congratulations on the new arrival!

I wonder if you've developed gastritis or even a gastric ulcer. The stress of hospitalization and surgery can make a real mess. Are they trying anything to reduce your stomach acid?

Yes, if you can't hold down fluids you will become dehydrated. As long as you're in the hospital an IV is fairly easy, if everyone is thinking clearly.

Dr just came in and i told him that i vomited up my liquids but everything else is passing through normally. Since my belly is small and very soft he doesn't think it's a hypermotility issue.
He thinks my tummy just needs more than liquid so has started me on a light diet. I am starving too finally so he says that is good as well. I am just over this. I want to be better and go home with my baby. No more issues.
I'm not sure what the problem could be since I'm passing stool and gas. Granted the still is completely liquid but i haven't had food in a week.
You mentioned gastritis. .. does that go away on its own?

If the cause (hypothetically stress) goes away then everything might clear up. Taking care of a new infant is stress-free, right? If you're nursing then "clears up on its own" becomes the first-line treatment for most things. Gastritis is usually treated with Zantac or Prilosec for a few weeks. Both are labeled "probably safe" while nursing.
