hi all, hope your all doing well, I really wanted some help, I'm so so scared, I had takedown about 18months ago and it's been problem after problem, and now the latest problem is gas coming from the vagina, i felt bubbles coming from the vagina very soon after the surgery to be honest I thought I even felt them before he surgery so I thought nothing of it, but as of about 2 weeks ago I've had extreme gas in my tummy the pressure builds and builds and then comes out from the vagina, with some discharge when I wipe, sorry tmi I know but I'm just so worried I haven't had any stool pass touchwood, one day I did think the discharge was tinted brown, and I've had bleeding from the vagina also, does an rv fistula always get really bad? Or can I just stay steady and gas is all that will pass? Do you have to have surgery or a seton? I can cope with how it is if I have to I guess, also we wanted to try for a baby somewhere down the line does the fistula get worse in pregnancy? I would have a c section because my consultant won't let me deliver naturally because of damage to the pouch, but does carrying a baby make the fistula worse in any way? Any advice or help would be so helpful I'm so scared I just don't know what to do, I had a defecating pouchogram a few days ago, and they found I can't empty my pouch properly but they didn't see any obvious fistulas

thanks for reading everyone

Sally, I have a RV fistula for about 10 years now. I've never had a seton or attempted any type of repair on it. Mostly because repairs are difficult and success without any damage to the pouch is rare and my pouch was otherwise perfect in every way. My pouch is 21 years old this month! My fistula has never gotten worse in all these years. It is possible to live with them, although some people just can't.

Got questions? Ask me anything.

C-jay.

Thanks so much for replying c-jay so good to hear you can live with it. I'm worried because some stool is coming through only when I have to really push to get stool to come out of the back passage, and the last few weeks I've had this intense gas pain which is unbearable and it's how I realised gas was coming from the vagina. I had a defacating pouchogram a few days ago and they told me I can't empty my pouch properly, then I have cuffitis and fissures to and I have a  pouchoscopy on Friday to check for whatever else could be wrong!

Did you ever pass stool? And how do you manage it? It's been like this for  about 2 weeks now discharge and blood and some brown stool stain on the issue exactly the same as what's coming from the back sorry tmi, I'm just so scared I feel totally deflated because I've got so many other issues with my joints that I broke and had pins and plates out in and then avn in my hip and all sorts I just stated work 2 months ago after 5 years at home, and I've had to give it up because of his new situation, I just don't remember what it feels like to be happy anymore
