Hi

Just had scope today, pouch has some areas of inflammation, it has also prolapsed. The anal canal has strictured and is ulcerated. A polyp is also present (near anastomosis). I had a pouch advancement and musectomy done previously for cuffitis. Surgeon plans to botox the stricture and remove the polyp. Anybody experienced the above? Thanks

I would suspect that all the other issues are caused by the stricture. Stricture causes fecal stasis, which leads to inflammation. Inflammatory polyps are not uncommon, particularly with IBD (I've had them in my pouch). The stricture can also lead to straining, which can cause prolapse. Botox is sort of a last resort before doing a stricturoplasty Or sphincterotomy. I presume you've had attempts at dilation?

Depending on how bad the prolapse is, surgical repair might be needed at some point.

Yes.....my latest scope about a week ago revealed "mild" inflammation of the pouch and several polyps.  My surgeon removed the polyps and sent them in for biopsy.  Results were negative and he prescribed a course of Flagyl for the inflammation.  My pouch is over ten years old and previous scopes have revealed polyps which he removed, as well.  They have all been benign and probably didn't even need to be removed.  Best wishes!
