When I was that close to takedown, if I ate before bed I was up several times during the night too. I did not eat anything after 6:00 pm so I would have several hours to empty.
Peanut butter does not work for me at all. If I eat peanut butter, my stools are much looser than normal too.
I do better with yogurt and believe it or not grilled cheese and fried egg sandwiches with one piece of cheese on white bread worked about the best. I would not use butter, mayo or sauces on the sandwiches. I would do ok with rice. Other people also mentioned potatoes but they didn't work great for me either.
My dr hasn't wanted me taking Immodium or Lomotil since my surgery; he thinks it effects how the gut heals and he wants my small intestine to take over without interference so please check with your dr before adding.
I also don't drink soda or caffeine. Carbonated beverages seem to make things worse too. I haven't had caffeine for years but have also heard that it makes things worse.
My biggest advice is to eat early, don't snack between meals and don't snack at all after dinner. (This was hard but made a big difference for me - even just a bite of something later in the evening would make me get up several times).
It may also help catch leakage if you put a cottonball or a cotton makeup cleansing pad right in between your butt cheeks before going to bed. This is something I still do and it does help.
Each week should get better. If I follow the rules I stated above, I can usually make it thru the night without getting up at all or maybe one time. If I eat late, eat a bunch of junk or snack after dinner, I pay for it and am up 1-3 nights during the night.
Hang in there! You are only 2 weeks out so your body still has a lot to figure out. I wish you the best of luck and hope you get some relief soon.
Oatmeal also worked pretty well for me, dry cereal with milk was horrible for me.
Keep us posted.
