Anyone here every consider getting plastic surgery o rhas gotten it due to multiple surgeries that just looks jacked up? mine is not extensive but the skin at the incisional lines is the issue. Its hard to explain but its like the skin is stuck to the interior of the scar. You cant pull the skin away from the scar. So when i put on some weight afterwardsi gain the weight in my abdomen, but its around the incision and my scar is tight and the skin does not come away from the incision area. hard to explain, need to post a photo. But will insurance cover it or no because them aholes think its cosmetic. I guess it actually is, but dont know.

Yes, I had it done a few times...no insurance did not cover it, I paid the full price out of pocket.

During a couple of k pouch revision surgeries my surgeons really tried to fix my mainline scar but I dehysse systematically (my scar explodes open around 3-12 weeks post op due to colllected fluids) and so no matter how nice the scar starts out once it pops open there is no nice way to reclose it...it just has to heal in (granulate) which leaves a really ugly scar.

I also had 3 different stoma scars plus an old colostomy scar and an assortment of other nasties plus lumps, bumps and fat packs.

It took 1 major plastic procedure under general and 3 minor ones under local (I didn't trust him to put me under and do the job any longer!) but I have an almost acceptable tummy...still bumpy but less so and they reduced 3 scars into 1 so I only 4 now  but it is livable. I no longer wear a bikini anyway and am (hopefully) past the age or need to date!

It was worth the pain and suffering for my self esteeme. I will probably  have another minor revision to finish the work and have the 12 scars on my legs from 2 gracillis flap surgeries reduced as well one of these days.

Yes, I am vain but at this point in my life I consider vanity a miracle!

Poucho, one of my surgeons told me this.  Don't go in the sun for the first year.  Keep it covered.  I had open heart six years ago, and being female and in the sun and at the beach all the time, I didn't want a huge ugly scar.  Trying to keep my chest covered was really a funny thing.  My husband told me I looked like my grandmother, an old Italian with w washcloth covering my scar.  It was quite a sight.  The other thing, vit E oil or Bio Oil.  It can keep the scar soft.  You won't be able to have plastic surgery for a while and keep in mind, more scar tissue!  I still have all my scars, it's part of my story. Of course my big boobs mostly hide the open heart one! Haha!!!

You go boy!  Be proud of how far you have come in this terrible journey and how much you have endured.  I look at my scars as my story.  I've had 22 major surgeries, but nothing as bad as all of this.  I'd take 20 more open heart surgeries before I'd go through all of what you and Ll the others have endured.  But my scars are me, who I am.  Just keep this in mind, when Jeffrey has a liver transplant, his scar will begin where mine ends and to all around his abdomen!  It can always be worse, haha.  Im not sure how.....
