I am very interested in going vegetarian and even possibly vegan but I have concern. Since my surgery I am plagued with gas. It's so uncomfortable and Gas X is only somewhat effective. I believe plant based meals generally create more gas but honestly I'm nervous to add more frustration.

I feel as though the most important part of the situation is transit time and absorption; as a vegan you're already aware that one must consume enough of the right kind of calories in order to  maintain proper health; soy cheese pizza and soda do not a healthy diet make .  Although I'm only 12 weeks post take down it seems that I currently cannot consume as much food or drink at one sitting as I would like to so I have to be wary of that in guarding against lack of nutrients/protein/B12 etc. It hasn't been easy to find the correct balance between eating enough yet not increasing PMs in a 24 hour period.  And it seems everyone's pouch situation differs just a little; it appears to be trial and error with everyone whether vegan/vegetarian or Non.  I can't say I've enjoyed the transition to my new pouch over the past three months, it has been difficult  The Butt Burn was initially excruciating  to the point of tears and still troubles me from time to time but not nearly as much -  that alone had me thinking I had made the wrong choice - but I'm trying to stay optimistic and hope that maybe after six months things will kind of normalize.  Good luck in your journey and decision making process and reach out as much as you need to on this forum - everyone is here to help each other.

like others said, I've tried several times to go vegan, but I seem to get a little dizzy without enough calories.  I end up eating meat again because it seems to stabilize me. Saying that, I still eat mostly vegan with 1-2 green smoothies per day, which I've been drinking for years.

I've done some health coaching and one thing to  consider is chewing enough.  When eating, break down your fruits, nuts, veggies plenty by chewing 20-30 times per bite.  You get more nutrients while digestion begins in the mouth and I believe it produces less gas for me.
