I have Piriformis Syndrome (swollen muscle in my butt) on my left side. I'm not sure where it came from, but I went through stricture problems I have solved with self-dilation. I'm guessing it came from straining to go o the bathroom before the stricture issue was solved. Am I right? Anybody else have this problem? Any way to get rid of it?

Piriformis syndrome is pretty common, and hurts like heck. I have issues with it periodically, but I don't think it has anything to do with my J-pouch. Getting my vitamin D level corrected seemed like it might have improved things. Until I learned how to stretch that muscle it was quite crippling. Now it's just a nuisance now and then.
Thank you for the info! I think I mislead myself by connecting the stricture problem and Piriformis Syndrome, 'cause they happened more or less concurrently. I went online today and found three exercises that may help. I would appreciate it if you's d let me know which ones work best for you! Thanks, again!
My preferred stretch is one that I adapted from the ones I found on the web. It might not work for everyone, but I like that I can do it standing up. I hold onto something, pick up the foot on the affected side, and place the ankle just above the opposite knee. Then I squat down (one-legged) as low as I can, stretching the heck out of the piriformis and whimpering as needed. I've even done this while waiting to cross the street.
God knows I'm trying' to do it, but not having much luck! Thanks!
I'm sorry, Larry! I'm in pretty good shape (I teach a martial art), so I wasn't sure how my method would work for you. There are plenty of videos on the web of seated approaches.
