I have a second JPouch for five years now and continue to present issues (chrons) and a pelvic floor dysfunction, the doctor is recommending JPouch removal.  I have read post here about pouch removal but I continue to seek the answer to the following question:

* Does permanent ileostomy and complete pouch removal reduces the change of Chrons or UC issues?
For those of you that post …… Thanks so much, it is wonderful to have your comments and read what each of you have experienced

Pouch removal does eliminate some problems permanently, in particular issues with the rectal cuff, pouchitis, and inflammation/strictures related to backwash stool. Some folks here have reported that their fistulas haven’t recurred after pouch excision, but there are no guarantees, since fistulizing Crohn’s doesn’t need a J-pouch to behave badly. However you choose to proceed I hope things get better for you!

@PHedges I'm glad you're asking questions and taking advice.  I wish I had done more or even found this forum before my surgery.  I feel like no one told me what I was going to go thru after my surgery.  I thought I was going to get back to my life and just go on like normal but I guess we all have to find our new normal now. Good luck with your surgery.
