Perianal abcess 1.5 years after pouch removal?

My abscess turned into a fistula. 50%+ of perianal abscesses do... Before my seton, there was a miserable cycling of filling and bursting happening there. I felt more ill before the seton, too.

Could be possible you're getting another abscess, or perhaps you've advanced to a fistula.

I've been checked and rechecked for a Crohn's conversion, and while there's some mild issues here and there, nothing strong enough to change it for real. My pouch looks too good to them to give me the dx, but perianal disease raises suspicions for Crohn's.

Those perineal wounds from pouch removal are pretty notorious for incomplete healing and recurring infections. So yeah, I don't think it is unreasonable to think another abscess is brewing. If this persists, I'd contact your doctor.

Ooh, lucky me: it looks like Perry's anal fistula has parked itself up my Barbie butt. Gotta make an appt with the surgeon and Google that "seton" thingie. Grrr....
