I  think I'm passing stool through my j-pouch and it was diverted to a permanent ileostomy 4.5 months ago. My j-pouch was left inside.  My anal canal is still narrow per a follow up pouchoscope 2 months after surgery.  The cuffitis and pouchitis were gone, yea!

I've been in more pain than usual due to UTI's. I've been feeling like I need to poop too. I've been straining the last few days. My "normal" passing mucus sluffing from my j-pouch is a whitish tan color.  At first I was passing little bits of a different color. There were tiny amounts of fresh blood yesterday but now it is just more brown with no blood. I'm passing more than the sluffing too. Still not more than 2-3 tablespoons.

I  used my j-pouch for 5 years before the diversion and if some stool is coming through it's not an emergeny. We are 1300 miles away from home for a few months so I will put up with it. But could it just be the tip of the iceberg?

I was treated for the UTI at an UrgentCare place a few weeks ago and they didn't do a culture. I went to a hospital ER today as my pain's through the roof. No shock, I have a UTI per the dip stick test so they are culturing my urine. Thanks to my husband they are checking my stool for c.diff. I have had long battles with c.diff both before and after my colonectomy. (It was convient getting a stool sample from my ileo bag.) He told the doctor about my too watery  stool the past few days. Poor man, he has heard about my BM's and bag contents for 20 years.

So does any of this sound familiar to anyone? I'm going to email my surgeon. I won't attach a picture of my stool - yet After all I've been through with my health I am no longer optimistic. Hopefully I am just borrowing trouble and it's sluffing BM's and no c.diff.

I think your are right DEWEYJ. I'm not going to email my surgeon until I get the c.diff test results and wait for more "evidence" of stools. I was upset earlier and needed to chill.  I am not at death's door!

My dad says "if it wasn't for bad luck we'd have no luck at all" and he's still here at 84

I just ordered test strips so I can test myself for UTIs.  Dah, you can get glucose testing strips so I should have made this connection sooner - like 15 years ago.
