Hello

started feeling bloated and having bad abdominal cramping this weekend.   I am a patient of Dr. Shen but have not been to Columbia as of yet.    Have had virtual visits.   Tried to reach covering doctor because of emergency but no option in the prompt.     Anybody been hospitalized through the ER for their pouch at Columbia or had a hospital stay that they can comment on?   I went on a liquid diet and started using some MiraLAX in very small amounts.    Also told to use hyosincamine by my local GI.   I live in NJ  and am anxious about going to the ER at Columbia today.   (Especially with the weather and people being very sick in general).    Anyone have any experience with a hospital stay there under Dr Shens care or experience the  ER?

any feedback would be greatly appreciated at this difficult time    😞 thank you

How did you end up handling it?

I'm a patient of Dr. Shen but live several hours away.  After a partial obstruction with poor care in my local hospital  (wrong meds offered, no discharge diet instructions leading to prolonged symptoms and delayed resolution,) I followed up with his office for guidance.  I was given the correct protocol for re-introducing solid foods and told: if it happens again, get someone to drive you to the Columbia-Presbyterian ER.  Now that I recognize what the symptoms are, should it ever happen again, that's what I will do.  I've not been to the ER there but inpatient care was just excellent.
