Afternoon everyone,
I woke at about 6 am today with pretty severe pain at and just below my old stoma site. I've got a pretty high pain tolerance, and this was up there--maybe a 7 out of 10.
In addition to the pain, I had some mild nausea.
On waking, I went to the restroom and the output was basically my normal. If it hadn't been for the pain/nausea, I would've though everything was just fine.
Applying a heating pad helped ease the pain a bit, but not a ton.
A couple of hours later, pain still present, I had another bowel movement that was also in the "new normal" range.
Shortly after that, I had a third bowel movement at about 9 am, that included some explosive gas, but otherwise was fine. This one did lessen the pain somewhat.
I took a couple of Tylenol, and that took the edge off enough to go into work. Currently, the affected region is tender, but not nearly as painful as it was earlier. During the course of the work day, I've had a fourth, "new normal" bowel movement.
So, my frequency is a touch more than usual, but not at a level that alarms me in anyway. Consistency isn't out of line, and the stool is not excessively watery. Pain is currently a very low 2 on the 10 scale when not moving around, seated at my desk., moving or standing brings it to a 4.
My surgeon is going to see me tomorrow, and has me on a liquid diet until then.
Given the pain and persistent, mild nausea, I'd say partial blockage for sure, but the frequency/consistency gives me pause.
Finally, there's nothing in the area that screams "hernia" to the touch.
Any thoughts?
