Has anyone else developed unexplained pancreatitis after their first Jpouch surgery. I was so excited to have my surgery done because I thought Yes I can be pain free! Well the flare up pain is gone but now I have to deal with pancreatitis which is even more painful!

Pancreatitis is most often caused by alcoholism or a drug reaction.
I have had three bouts of pancreatitis, one coming after my takedown. The doc thought it was due to medications I was on at the time-two were in the same drug class, prescribed by different docs.
How soon after your surgery did you get pancreatitis? What meds were you on at the time-would be a good time to write down the meds you were on.

I had my first case of pancreatitis about 1 week after my first surgery. I was only on prednisone before my surgery. They ran every test on my gallbladder and that turned up fine. He said that it might be caused by stress on my body. Did yours go away after your body healed from the takedown?

I had a pancreatitius attack before I even knew I had FAP. I had polyps in my pancreatis and bile duct. That's how my doctor decided to go looking for more and did a colonoscopy and found all the thousands of polyps in my colon and diagnosed me with FAP. Alchol and drugs alone do not "make" you have a pancreatitus. I had a EGD and ERP? to find these polyps. You might need one too.
Had Pancreatitis associated with sludge in Gallbladder after 1st stage (3 surgeries due to complications). On subsequent surgery, gallbladder was apparently shrivelled and scar tissued into place so shouldn't give me any trouble and would be a bit dangerous to remove so it was left. Haven't had another bout so fingers crossed the doctors right. Was the third most painful thing to happen this year (after kidney stones and peritonitis).

After so may tests my surgeon finally concluded that Flagyl and Cipro were the cause.
After stopping those 2, I haven't had an episode in 18 months.

So far they have done every test known to man. All of the tests came back fine so they think that the stress of the surgeries is what is causing the pain. They put me on anti anxiety meds to control the stress on my body which has been helping so far. Pancreatitis is excruciating painful to have!
Akk, I had one bout two months after my take down. My surgeon had me on a suppository that my gi thought caused the bout.
But after that third bout, none since. So glad.
