Pain with varicose vein on perineum.

I am having horrific pain (brings me to tears) and my GP said I have a varicose vein which runs from my anus to my vagina on the external part of my perineum. My surgeon is away until Monday. Has anyone had this? How did you deal with it? There is such intense pressure in my anal area it feels like my pouch is pressing down on my anus all the time. Is there a possibility that there is something going on internally? I see my GP again next week but there is really not much she can do. Help!
