Last month I was in agony and asking you all for advice for what to do about my chronic pelvic pain. My gastro doc thinks it's an adhesion, but I've been going to a chronic pain clinic and they think the scar tissue has muddled up my nerves in my abdominal wall. The gastro doc recommended acupuncture, the pain doc recommended nerve injections. So, in the spirit of not wasting any more time in pain, I elected to do both.
First of all I have to say that acupuncture is amazing. If you suffer from chronic pain I urge you to find an affordable clinic in your area. I go to one in a community setting, so instead of paying seventy dollars for an individual room I pay fifteen dollars for a partitioned recliner in a large room with up to thirteen other people. It's never been full when I've gone and by the fourth time I went I was feeling a high I had only previously felt from dilaudid, but it lasted the entire hour I was there. The quality of care is not lost in the pricing reduction. Chronic pain patients typically start out at three times a week so price can add up quickly, but trust me, it's worth it.
Yesterday and today I got the nerve injections. Right away I felt numbed up and had no pain for several hours. Today though, I am sore from the shots I received yesterday in my abdomen. He did warn me that this was my most sensitive area, and may require multiple treatments so I am going back in one month for abdominal wall blocks. They also injected a steroid which I may not feel the full effects of for about a week.
They were very impressed with how good of a patient I was, but I'm sure most of us could put "hospital patient" on our resume
I still do get breakthrough pain, and thanks to you all I was able to talk to a new primary about Norco. It doesn't completely kick the pain but it takes the edge off.
On a side note, does anyone here have ideas for a good part time job a girl inclined to get sick could get? I've been too afraid I'll be unreliable because of my illness or pain. I'm going to try for disability but I'm also hoping all the things I'm doing will get me healthy enough to have a real job again. Thanks for reading!
