Now a 68yr old male with colon removed and J-Pouch 8 years ago. I take small does of opiate (oxycontin 10mg) twice a day as well as Cipro and Metamucil daily. This tends to keep the ass rash at bay. I generally get up one or two times in the evening to relieve myself.
My question relates to the morning when I wake up (around 0600-0730). I don't necessarily get up then, but there is pain in my gut below the stomach and about where my colon should be. It's not sharp, it's dull, but uncomfortable and no matter which way I roll, persists until I get up. Normally I sleep on my back, mostly out of necessity. Prior to the operation, I sleep a lot on my front.
So is that sort of daily pain on waking up normal? Or should I try and investigate further? Or is there some magic fix I just haven't noticed?
