Been here, done this but it is getting worse...

It feels like I am being stabbed immediately after meals, before meals or if I don't eat for too long...

In other words, nights and mornings are fine...it is just once I launch the digestive process...then I am in hell.

I had the ultrasound and its clean. No stones in the common bile duct, nothing on my liver...nothing obvious.

The doctor gave me an acid blocker with either does or does not help at all...meaning it is poker...,no way to know if it is going to work...

Yogurt hurts, bananas too...pasta or rice kill me...I just spent  months in digestive hell...

Any ideas? The only thing that the doc suggested is that I go into spasm as soon as I eat and should try antispasmodics...

Doesn't want to do an endoscopy...

I am back on the Omopral (sp?)

I wish you were feeling better!

It could be acalculous biliary pain (AKA acalculous cholecystopathy, AKA biliary dyskinesia), and sometimes that's caused by Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction instead of stones. There are a few other possible cases, too. Does the fat content of the food seem to have any effect? Is there any nausea or vomiting?

An endoscopic ultrasound might find stones that were missed by the conventional ultrasound. Or there might really be no stones.

Here's an article that might be helpful:

Thanks Scott,

Yes, to both...nausea and hacking, swelling and pain so bad that it brings me to my knees (not great in front of all of my students). I press on the site to try to breathe...To the point that I now have a bruise there.

It can also happen if I fast...no reason, no food just hell...

Yesterday I flew back home...I was so scared of being in that condition in the plane that I decided on eating an early dinner of...a barbequed steak...with a snack of 2 little, barbequed meatballs (pure meat and herbs)...did fine...so it isn't fats...may just have to live off of meat forever...the only thing that I do not react to...pure protein...and green salad...this may have to become my new thing...not sure how I feel about that.

My diet is:

Coffee, juice, Ice water & meds in the morning (no reaction)

Banana at around mid-morning (could start reacting)

Plain Greek yogurt at noon (all hell breaks loose)

Nothing til dinner (too much pain)

Dinner is usually a protein (fish, chicken) and a steamed veggie or salad, no dressing (I am in hell)

Midnight snack (usually the whole thing of ice cream)..By then the reaction is over and I can sleep...funny thing is Ice cream or extreme cold calms the sucker down...Ice water, sucking ice...if I freeze the darn thing it stops.

No answer

I am stumped...

Some of the doctors think that it may be a problem of spasms but it doesn't happen with pure proteins...had sashimi last night...no problem (didn't eat the rice),

Others think that it's phantom gallbladder pain (it's a thing according to them)

My Chiro is opting for adhesions and wants to break them up (NO!...that will surely push another hernia through me)

I am back on the meds for now...but my pouch hates them..

Hi Sharon,

Kind of a first time poster here. I would say, from my experience - don't eat bananas, give-up dairy, and try going Keto, which is what it seems your body is kind of responding too. I have never heard of the phantom gallbladder pain, but I opt for scar tissues. I am the queen of scar tissue, and the issues are just crazy. I have been doing Keto, for a couple of months now, and my body is actually starting to feel normal. It's high fat, medium protein and low carb. Its the sugar and the foods that convert to sugar. And it really is medium protein as if you eat too much for your body, it turns to sugar. Just try it for a week or two, and see how you feel. I still do get the pain, but it is a lot less in severity, and frequency. This stuff is all so crazy, this life we have.

How would a chiropractor break up the scar tissue?

DJ

Thanks Maggie,

The chiro does deep tissue massage on the abdomen...meaning it feels like a horror movie where they are pushing their hands right into the abdomen through the skin (they aren't) but it sure feels like it...

I was high protein, low carb for about 25 years...it worked really well...but things have gone down hill the last few years and I am now eating anything and everything...not great.

For now, the meds seem to be helping...

Chicken breast and salad tonight...We will see how it works...

Sharon

Sounds about right Scott,

Feels like it is still there giving me nightmares...one doctor thought that the space that it occupied (it was 1kg or 1 litre full or bile)...a huge space...had pushed things aside and that the space has filled with scar tissue...not a pleasant thought...another thought that it was my stomach going into spasm whenever I eat...no 'repeating or burning' post meal...just a knife in there...twisting from front to back...darn...just when you think you got rid of one problem it comes back...
