Hi! Did anyone else have pain in their rectum/"rump" 6 weeks out of part 1 of the 2 part surgery? I had a loop ileostomy & j pouch formation & 6 weeks out I still have quite throbbing pain. They ruled out an abcess even though my left but cheek throbs worse than my right ....but when the pain starts in the early am it's so severe I can't stand without dancing or sit without grimacing ...the only thing that knocks it out is an ibuprofen & Vicodin together but I am not a big pain med person so I try not to use those the rest of the day if I can help it...a heating pad helps - I sit on one as I feed the baby... Can anyone relate ? What is this pain? Why so bad 6 weeks out?

I know that I wondered if I had an abscess early on following the j pouch procedure because of the anal pain. It was ruled out as were even hemorrhoids. It eventually eased. I purchased a good quality hemorrhoid donut pillow that helped me to sit. Also the often prescribed tub soaks helped alot. I predict this will ease for you in time. I remember it being so frustrating in those first three/four months sometimes. I noticed a good change at 3 months and another qualitative change at 4 months. Take care.
Yes I had a abscess that did not show on any tests, blood work was also fine. I was in tremendous pain. It was found during an exploratory.
