I had my reversal surgery last Tuesday May 31st. I've been home since Saturday and in incredible amounts of pain every time I have to have a bowel movement it's liquid right now and blood (bleeding just started today). I've been living in the hot bath it's the only thing that relieves the pain somewhat. My pain medication doesn't help. I'm looking for any advice should I go to emerge ? I've called my surgeon left a message and haven't gotten a response.

Sounds like an anal fissure to me, which is a tear in the anal canal. Usually it is associated with straining against constipated stool, but for us it is due to frequent liquid stools.

As you know, fissures are extremely painful. The pain causes spasms of the sphincters, which delay healing and make for difficult emptying.

Oral pain meds do little to nothing for the pain. Topicals are what is needed. Hot sitz baths are the primary treatment, so you are doing the right thing. Also, thickening the stool will help (such as with fiber supplements), as this will help absorb the bile acids and reduce urgency. Bowel slowers are useful too, to reduce frequency.

Many here have suffered with fissures, so youu are not alone. If your surgeon has not called back yet, you need to call back again. Be persistent. While this is not an emergency, you need some relief.
