Ostomy trick that helped my dad, I think it could help other ostomates too

Excellent question!!! The vaseline crusts the stoma adhesive powder and it hardens it- creating extra barrier skin protection

Where exactly are you applying the Vaseline? I am about to have A temporary ileostomy for 9 month’s and am just relearning the whole thing.

Seems like the lubricant would make it easier for the bag to pop off the wafer.

Why are you getting a temp for 9 months?

Dr Remzi saw the cause of the jpouch growing up in the abdomen as a restriction near the bottom. So first surgery to create ostomy and let pouch and surrounding tissues heal and rest for 6 months. Then at 6 months- surgery number 2  - he will remove the restriction in the mesorectum and will either reduce jpouch to normal size or create a new one. At 9 months from first surgery, Oct 24, he will hook the restored jpouch back up and close ostomy. Much more extensive and disturbing situation than I was expecting. But it is what it is. Going to NY Oct 21 to start the thing.
