Hi Allswell,
It happens to a lot of us post op, during periods of illness or infection or general systemic weakness...it also happens to everyone every fall (that is where the name fall comes from).
You need to be reinforcing your system from both inside and out. Supplements are important (zinc and other trace minerals, collagene and certain B vitamins, healthy oils & omegas and of course seaweed is full of natural iodine and other goodies...), lots of healthy protiens (fish, seafood, chicken, liver...) and fruits (if your body can handle it, then eat dates, figs and apricots all dried).
That is it for the inside...
For the outside I was told by my dermatologist to use H&S at every wash (helps to keep the pores clear and free of clogs and contains topical zinc), you can use another kind of shampoo for your hair type on the 2nd wash if you need to and you need to massage your scalp (head down if possible to encourage blood flow to the scalp) for at least 1-2 minutes at every wash. I do it with my cream rince or hair mask.
In the last year I have started a new treatment system.
I no longer wash my hair with shampoo every time but just use my cream rince or hair mask and massage it deeply into the scalp, spread over all of my hair and rince (saves time too!). I have been able to reduce the number of washes from every other day to 1 every 4th day and only use 'real' shampoo about every other week.
My hair is thicker and stronger than in years, dries out less and is not greasy at all. My curls have even come back.
I can't say that it isn't falling out at all but maybe somewhat less. But it is the fall and I accept this.
Those are all of the tricks that I have got in my little bag.
Hope some of them can help you.
Sharon
